The inspiration for my Final Year Project on sustainability struck me during a visit to Melbourne's Museum, where I encountered an exhibit on pandas. Learning about the difficulties of these beloved black eyes, facing extinction due to habitat loss from the destruction of bamboo forests, deeply resonated with me. Especially as my favourite animal.
Driven by a desire to raise awareness & advocate for their preservation, I channeled my creativity into designing a collection that embodies the essence of pandas & their fragile ecosystem. Embracing the bamboo, their vital source of sustenance & habitat, I integrated bamboo inspired structures into the garments, symbolizing their interconnectedness with nature.
Drawing from the panda's natural palette, I infused the collection with black, white & green tones, soft, fluffy textures, evoking the adorable charm of these iconic animals. Through innovative design & sustainable materials, my project serves as a testament to our responsibility to protect & preserve the habitats of endangered species for generations to come.
